My Own
Southern Adventure!
Work forced
relocation turned into a exciting adventure at the most beautiful
landscape for me last year. The situation started when I was
offered to lead a project regarding the expansion of our company
into South
America. I was thrilled! Finally
after all the years of hard work and dedication the company
was acknowledging my skills and expertise (I had previously
worked as a liaison with a German
translation company and that experience would be of use.)
But such prize would not come without an important condition:
I was to relocate to Argentina to coordinate the expansion from
there and would be living in the country for at least 4 years.
Let me tell you, I was shattered. I never expected that the
project would make me leave my home and country and go off to
the unknown for so long. But I was also determined to make the
best of it and decided to put all my energies working to that
effect.
I arrived
at San
Carlos de Bariloche . Here it was this modern city, sitting
amidst a majestic landscape of snow crowned mountains and emerald
pastures. The whole region is surrounded by crystal lakes, huge
mountains and gentle foothills. You can see tourists skiing
down the white tracks of a mountain or perhaps some daring adventurers
rafting down a particularly rapid stream. I was inspired by
all this beauty, and that feeling didn't fade quickly.
As soon
as I got over the idea of dropping my obligations to just have
a great holiday there, I decided to get to work as soon as possible.
I was supposed to settle down and start working with a Spanish
translation services agency, and I am happy to say that
my experience was more than satisfactory. While I needed to
learn the language as soon as possible, there was a lot of paperwork
and documents waiting for me and the agency was thoughtful enough
to provide me with two assistants to get the work done. I had
worked within a translation
company before, and I knew that you have to be lucky in
order to find a group of professional people to work with, and
this time I feel I hit the jackpot. My foolish fears and worries
were washed away and I was ready to start working and enjoying
my stay in this magical place.
