We are the only Spanish school in Argentina offering a serious Medical Spanish program in REAL LIFE SITUATIONS (only available in A.I.E. Buenos Aires). This is not the common program usually called "Spanish for Medicine", only held by Spanish teachers with a medical dictionary. We offer a real Medicine/Medical Spanish program, one in where we train you to use it in REAL LIFE, in REAL SITUATIONS. The shadowing is coordinated by a local DOCTOR IN MEDICINE.

Our Spanish program for healthcare professionals includes:
- 2 weeks of Spanish program with 20 group classes per week + plus 10 one-to-one medical Spanish classes a week, followed by:
- 2 weeks of shadowing in a hospital.

We offer a real Medicine/Medical Spanish program, one in where we train you to use it in real life, in real situations. This is not the usual Medical Spanish program where you learn "a list of medical vocabulary". Our real Medical Spanish program is focused to healthcare professionals: doctors, medical advisors, medical practitioners and Emergency Medicine physician residents, nurses, medicine students, and all people in the health sector. Several years of experience have led AIE teachers and local doctors in Medicine to produce a specialised language manual and specialised Medical Spanish program offering language skill development and real life situations for physicians, doctors and nurses enabling them to better communicate in Spanish regarding diagnosis, symptoms, treatments, etc.

Learning goals: our Medical Spanish Program enables healthcare professionals to understand and communicate in real situations of their work environment, understand Spanish vocabulary related to healthcare, master grammar structures and functional basics, and have a better idea about the Spanish healthcare system in Argentina. The contents focused in this program are the ones related to speaking, listening, reading and writing in the healthcare sector in Argentina.

Requirements:
- At least Intermediate level of Spanish.
- Graduate degree or advanced studies in Medicine School.
- Important: Valid International Health Insurance (local clinics and hospitals do not accept interns without a health insurance).

Should the applicant not meet above mentioned requirements, he/she may start by taking some weeks of intensive Spanish classes, so as to reach minimum level required.

Not being an advanced student in medicine school can be discussed case by case and may imply differences in accommodating shadowing in the hospital accordingly, but good command of Spanish is a must, as doctors and patients do not speak English, and our Medicine Spanish Program trains you for real situations with Spanish-speaking patientes,nurses, doctors, etc.

Important: Medical Spanish program must be booked and confirmed as far in advance as possible, as we need to arrange shadowing in the hospital accordingly.

Program Fees - Medical Spanish Immersion Program: US$1,170. Includes:
- 2 weeks of Spanish group classes (total of 40 hours).
- 2 weeks of private classes, Medical Spanish, (total of 20 hours).

Medical Spanish Program - CONTENTS:

Listening and Speaking:
- Listening and Speaking in interviews.
- Respond questions in an interview situation
- Relate experiences.
- Expose to an Auditory.
- Listen stories.
- Give and interpret instructions.

Reading:
- Locate specific information.
- Identify arguments and author opinions.
- Work in your own understanding process of reading distinguishing what is understood and what is not understood.
- Comment the information.
- To confront different interpretations.
- Establish relationships among different passages of the text appealing to the connectors and the punctuation.
- To establish relationships among the text information and your previous knowledge from the topic.

Writing:
- Write letters or formal e-mails to be presented, request information, complain or to respond complaints and birdcalls, reports and instructions. Students should:
- to evaluate the addressee;
- adjust the written text to the format;
- revise the text;
- consult with other readers during the writing process and on the final revision;
- revise the spelling during the final revision using the orthographic corrector, the dictionary or other written sources.

Reflection about our language:
- Words formation: suffixes and prefixes.
- Use the monolingual dictionary in Spanish.
- Words derivations: lexical relationships.

Learning activities: In the classes the contents will be developed with materials especially designed for this course. Interview dramatization, instructions and explanations to patients, texts linked with local problems of regional health and pathologies (habitually consulted in hospital services or emergency services), clinical records. Local study topics and and linguistic reflection activities.
